Spotlight on Soane Britain
British interiors and design company Soane Britain are champions of craftsmanship and have had a huge impact on preserving and highlighting the heritage of British makers.
Founded by Lulu Lytle and Christopher Hodsoll in 1997, Soane is an interiors brand with a focus on British craft and manufacturing.
By developing relationships with craftspeople up and down the UK, Soane have been able to design beautiful pieces, inspired by history and made to the very highest standards by skilled makers. By working in this way, Soane have helped keep many British crafts alive, including the last rattan weaving workshop in Leicestershire, which now crafts Soane’s iconic rattan designs.
Over the last twenty five years, Soane’s network of talented craftspeople has gone from strength to strength and they now collaborate with around 59 workshops in the making of over 300 designs that include furniture, lighting, fabrics, wallpapers and other interior related products.
As a designer, it is important to consider the future when specifying for a project. Working with Soane is such a treat because every single piece is so well designed and expertly crafted right here in the UK. When I specify Soane products, I know they’ll be in the family for generations to come, with their full provenance easily traced and the sustainable and long-standing traditions of the craft preserved for the future.
